Public Transportation

Public Transportation creates a space for stillness. A space where the
urban commuter shifts into motionless activity which disengages them from
their above ground, everyday life. It is a paradoxical moment where the
city forces its people to stop moving, to stand still. While the urbanite
may experience a few rare quiet moments walking the streets, I am most
interested in the in-between moments that happen in the public spaces
below ground. It is here where city life seems to pause and the motion of
the body becomes fixed to the structures that move it.
